One person killed in a targeted shooting in Maple Ridge early Saturday morning.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says shortly after 2 a.m., the Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 243 Street and 102 Avenue.
When they arrived, officers found a 32-year-old man suffering gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he later died from his injuries. IHIT was then called in to investigate. IHIT says the 24300-block of 102 Avenue will be shut down for an undetermined amount of time.
Investigators believe the shooting was targeted. The identity of the victim has not been released because police are still notifying family members.
IHIT spokeswoman Cpl. Meghan Foster says they want to speak with more witnesses who were in the area at the time of this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT tip line at 1-877-551-4448 (IHIT).
