Surrey man killed by truck on rainy night

A pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a pickup truck in City Centre early Thursday.  Police are investigating after a truck struck and killed a Surrey man early Thursday morning in the City Centre area.  Around 12:40 a.m., a 29-year-old man and a friend were crossing 132nd Street in the 10100-block when the victim was hit by a northbound Ford Mustang. Police said he died at the scene. The victim’s friend was not injured.  Surrey RCMP collision investigators gathered evidence and interviewed the truck’s driver, who has been co-operative. Police noted conditions were dark and wet and the victim was wearing dark clothing.  Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.It is Surrey’s eighth traffic-related fatality this year. Five of those have been pedestrians.
