The fire broke out in a warehouse just off Scott Road near 93a Avenue
Several business owners in Delta will be surveying damage Sunday after a large blaze tore through a commercial building Saturday afternoon. “It held about three businesses,” said Delta Fire Chief Mark Creer. “Just about completely gutted.”
The first crews immediately called for more firefighters to help, as the building had become heavily engulfed in flames.
“It was difficult getting access to some of the smaller openings,” said Creer. “It was fully involved when we got there … so we upgraded it to a two-alarm fire.”
Creer said the fire was mostly contained before nightfall, but crews had to continue fighting hotspots overnight.
Some of the businesses that were part of the building included a smoke shop and a deli.
No injuries have been reported at this time, and the cause is still under investigation.
