Surrey continues to review school security

After A 22 years old who entered in Abbotsford Senior Secondary School and stabbed two girls, 13 who died and 14 sustained injuries on Tuesday November 1. Now Surrey schools watching closely as facts are released about a tragic killing at a school in Abbotsford.  Tragically 13-year-old died of her injuries, while 14-year-old girl was treated in hospital.

Gabriel Brandon Klein, is charged in the attack is  originally from Alberta. The Surrey School District is watching closely as facts of the tragedy are being revealed to see if any changes in security is need to be made at Surrey schools.

School District spokesperson Doug Strachan said Friday no one wants to see schools turned into fortresses.

“They need to be welcoming, friendly places,” Strachan said. “They are at the heart of communities.”

Strachan said the district conducts reviews continuously, but heightens them when any tragedy occurs, like the one that happened in Abbotsford.
