A Surrey resident was taken to hospital Tuesday afternoon after being bitten on the arm by a dog.
It happened in the 13600-block of 56A Avenue, shortly before noon. The Surrey RCMP has not revealed what breed of dog it was, or the gender of the victim.
“It appears one dog escaped from inside its residence while its owner was speaking to guests at the front door,” Corporal Scotty Schumann said. “The dog from the residence approached two other leashed dogs nearby and a dog fight between all dogs ensued.
“The dog owner from the residence attempted to separate the fighting dogs and was bitten on the arm by one of the leashed dogs,” he added.
Schumann said the “full extent of the victim’s injury has yet to be determined,” but it’s not life-threatening.
Police and Surrey animal control officers are investigating.
