For BC’s economy, Alberta Premier Rachel Notley says the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline has significant economic benefits for the Province.
New pipeline will boost BC’s GDP by $1B, (gross domestic product) is one of the primary indicators used to gauge the health of an economy.
Alberta Premier Notley was in Vancouver to convince supporters the controversial pipeline expansion project, which received federal approval last week.
She told that the pipeline would provide a $1 billion bump to BC’s GDP without increasing greenhouse gas emissions.
Notley said that’s because Alberta recently capped greenhouse gas emissions and those emissions will not increase if the pipeline is built.
She noted oil and gas already account for 20 per cent of Canada’s exports and the biggest and most profitable market lies overseas, not south of the border where most of Canada’s oil exports currently end up.
